Joachim Löw and Vladimir Petkovic are candidates for the head coach of the Russian national team

Former German coach Joachim Löw is a candidate for the position of head coach of the Russian national team. The German specialist is one of three foreigners on the short list of potential coaches of the national team.

The second foreigner is former Zenit coach Andre Villas-Boas. The third option is considered the coach of the Swiss national team Vladimir Petkovic. At the same time, Zlatko Dalic, who coaches Croatia, is not on the list.

Also on the short list were Russian specialists Sergei Semak, Valery Karpin and Leonid Slutsky, but they declined.

Lev left the German national team at the end of Euro 2020. At the stage of 1/8 finals, the Germans lost to England (0:2).

At the moment, Stanislav Cherchesov, with whom the national team finished last in the Euro 2020 group, remains the head coach of the Russian national team.
