British writer Joanne Rowling will publish on the Web a fairy tale story called “The Ickabog”, the manuscript of which lay in her attic for many years. The author of a series of novels about the wizard Harry Potter reported it on Twitter on Tuesday, May 26.
“More than 10 years ago I wrote a fairy tale that had nothing to do with my other works and which was called The Ickabog. I always wanted to publish it, but after the last book about Potter, I wrote two more novels for adults and after some hesitation I decided that they should see the light next,” said the writer.
According to Rowling, until recently, the story was read only by her two youngest children.
She reported almost nothing about the story, except that “it is a story about truth and abuse of power.
The first online publication of the fairy tale will be available on the Web after 15:00 on May 26, the rest of the chapters will be published every week.
According to the writer, the new free book is a gift for children and teenagers who have to spend time at home during quarantine.
