Joe Biden presents Boris Johnson with a bicycle and helmet

A meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was the first in U.S. President Joe Biden’s list of contacts on his overseas tour. The American leader presented the prime minister with a custom-made American-made touring bicycle and bicycle helmet.

This was reported by White House journalists. It is noted that the gift was “a gesture of friendship and in recognition of their shared interest in cycling.” For his part, Johnson presented Biden with a photo of a mural dedicated to American black rights activist Frederick Douglass.

Note that Biden and Johnson signed a new Atlantic Charter on Thursday, modeled on the 1941 agreement, which outlines eight key areas in which London and Washington intend to cooperate. Later, speaking to reporters, the U.S. president said he had a “very productive meeting” with the British prime minister.
