Joe Biden should go public with his sexual assault allegation

This Friday, Joe Biden is expected to make his first public comments on an allegation of sexual assault that marred his presidential campaign.

The Democratic candidate will appear on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” to respond to an allegation by his former Senate staffer, Tara Reade, that he assaulted her in the basement of a Capitol office building in the 1990s.

Joe Biden has not yet been questioned or taken a stand on the charge, although it came under renewed scrutiny this week after two of Reade’s associates said she had already told them about elements of her allegations.

Republicans, concerned about President Donald Trump’s increasingly precarious political position, are using the allegation to portray Democrats as hypocrites who only defend women who allege wrongdoing against Conservatives. They are doing this despite the fact that it could renew attention to the multiple allegations of sexual assault against Trump.
