Kim Kardashian’s brand Skims will be the official underwear supplier for U.S. Olympic and Paralympic female athletes at the Summer Games in Tokyo. The girls will also receive pajama sets and homewear sets. According to the official Skims website, the Olympic capsule will go on sale July 12.
Kim announced the collaboration with the U.S. team on Monday – she posted photos of the athletes in the branded underwear on Instagram. Alex Morgan (soccer), Haley Anderson (swimming), Aija Wilson (basketball), Scout Bassett and Delilah Muhammad (track and field) were the first to try on the clothes.
About how important this collaboration is to Skims, Kim said in a news release.
“We are honored to support our female athletes at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. These women are an example and inspiration to the girls. Including for my daughters. They prove that anything is possible if you work hard. And Skims clothing is designed to make women remember that and feel their best every day. We’re very excited to partner with Team USA and we’re glad that this is how we’re helping to spread that message.”
The line will feature the widest range of sizes and colors. As Kardashian notes, she was inspired by personal experience: it used to be difficult for women to find comfortable and appropriate underwear. The website also notes that the brand is “shaping new standards by offering a solution for every body.”
