Latvian MP suspected of spying for Russia

Latvian MP of the opposition Social Democratic Party “Concord” Janis Adamsons is suspected of spying for Russia. This was reported on June 10 by the news agency LETA.

“No matter what the Sejm decides, it’s hard for me to comment on something I don’t even know. I have no idea what I am accused of,” the politician said, denying his guilt.

The majority of Latvian parliamentarians voted to strip Adamsons of parliamentary immunity. There were 69 deputies in favor, five against and four abstentions. Earlier, the Latvian Prosecutor General’s Office had asked the Saeima for permission to search, detain and imprison Adamson.
