A member of the Lebanese security forces was killed in the fighting in Beirut, according to the Lebanese Ministry of the Interior.
According to the statement, he died after being attacked at the Le Grey Hotel.
According to the Lebanese Red Cross Society, more than 230 people were injured during the protests.
“The Red Cross delivered 63 people to nearby hospitals and 175 people were treated on the spot,” the organization’s Twitter page said.

Protesters chant: “The people want the fall of the regime”, “Revolution. Revolution”, and they hold posters with the words “Go away, you are all murderers”. Demonstrators have occupied the Lebanese Foreign Ministry building.
An explosion occurred in the port area of Beirut on 4 August. A 2.7 tonnes of ammonium nitrate burst into flames during welding work. The facades of dozens of buildings were destroyed and damaged. According to seismologists, the explosion power was comparable to an earthquake of magnitude 4.5.
