Lukashenko invited to Belarus those wishing to ask Protasevich questions

If someone wants to ask questions to Roman Protasiewicz in Donbas, then everyone who wants to can come to Belarus. This was stated by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko on June 1.

“If they want to ask Protasevich any questions in Donbas in connection with the case there, “you are welcome to come and ask us,” the politician was quoted as saying.

Earlier in the day, it became known that the Prosecutor General’s Office of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR) has established the involvement of the detained in Minsk former editor-in-chief of Telegram channel NEXTA Roman Protasevich in crimes against civilians in Donbass.

On May 27, the supervisory authority opened a criminal case against Protasevich due to his participation in military actions in Donbass. According to the investigation, in the summer of 2014, he voluntarily joined the Azov organization, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in the LNR.

From the summer of 2014 to the winter of 2015, the blogger served as deputy commander of the second shock-attack company of the battalion of the same name and took part in combat operations in Donbass.

Protasevich was detained on May 23 after an emergency landing of a Ryanair airline plane at Minsk airport in connection with a bomb threat, which later turned out to be false. The State Security Committee of Belarus stated that Protasevich was involved in the combat operations in Donbas, as well as in the organization of mass disturbances in the republic.
