Belarusian authorities gave the former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya $15 thousand from the budget when she left for Lithuania. This was stated by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko on Friday, October 9.
“We are guarded, at her request, with the people she asked to be accompanied, we are taken to Lithuania to see her children. And when she said that she did not have money to live there, I disposed of it and the state enterprise took $15 thousand and gave it to her,” BelTA agency quoted him as saying.
Lukashenko also stressed that she “cried on her neck” and thanked her.
Earlier on October 7 it became known that Tikhanovsky Ministry of home affairs of Russia announced an interstate search. It was emphasized that she was wanted under the article of CC. But the next day the department denied the information about initiation of criminal proceedings against the ex-presidential candidate.
