Lukashenko suggested new military exercises to Russia

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko suggested that Russia continue the military exercise “Slavic Brotherhood” under Brest and think about new joint maneuvers. He said this at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Wednesday, September 16.

“We need to think about the second stage of the exercise and other exercises, to work out a plan without looking around, who will tell us and what,” BelTA quoted Lukashenko.

According to him, Belarus “is not going to strain anyone and do something in advance.

“But we must keep our interests in check,” added Lukashenko.

15 It was reported that the first stage of the Belarusian-Russian tactical exercises “Slavic brotherhood – 2020” started in Belarus. From the Russian side in the exercise involved units of the Pskov Airborne Guards Airborne Assault Regiment.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that the exercise will be held until September 25. Paratroopers of the two countries will work out the issues of interaction between units in the performance of tactical tasks.

About 300 servicemen and about 70 units of combat and special equipment of the Pskov Airborne Guards Airborne Assault Unit are participating in the exercise from Russia.
