Malaysian authorities have decided to introduce hotel quarantine fees for all people who will arrive in Malaysia from June 1, 2020, Antara reports.
“Malaysian nationals returning from abroad will be subject to hotel quarantine fees of up to 50% of the set amount of 150 Ringit per day. Non-Malaysian nationals will be charged 150 ringgit per day ($34.5) at hotels,” Malaysian Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Jaakob said in Kuala Lumpur.
He said 252 Malaysian citizens have returned home and have been isolated.
“Since April 3, 2020, 38,371 Malaysian citizens returning from abroad have been quarantined on a mandatory basis. To date, 30,200 people have been subjected to mandatory quarantine and allowed to return home,” said the Malaysian Defence Minister.
