Pakistan Television reported that a Pakistan Airlines plane crashed near the largest airport, Jinnah, near the city of Karachi.
It said there were about 100 people on board.
The Pakistani edition of Dawn, citing a PIA spokesman, notes that the aircraft, presumably an Airbus A320, carried 90 passengers and eight crew members.
Geo.tv reported citing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) that it carried 91 passengers – 85 in economy class and six in business class.
The crash of the Pakistan Airlines jetliner was reported earlier Friday by local media. It was a PK-8303 flight that had previously departed from Lahore city. The aircraft crashed in a residential area when it landed at Jinnah International Airport in the Karachi area.
According to Dunya News, four houses were damaged in the emergency, two people were injured and taken to hospital.
The number of casualties is now being clarified.
