MEP spoke about the American lobby in Brussels

There is an active pro-American lobby in the European Union. This was stated by a member of the European Parliament (EP) Committee on Foreign Affairs, German MP from the party “Alternative for Germany” Maximilian Krah.

“You have to understand that there are a lot of lobbyists in Brussels – especially from the United States. If you look at the resumes of some MEPs, you see that many of them are affiliated with American think tanks based in Europe. Even right-wing and conservative parties send politicians to the EP who used to work for American NGOs, arguing that they have international experience,” the politician said.

At the same time, he stressed: “In Brussels, they think that their political thinking is universal, they judge the whole world by their own standards and they question any country outside the EU.

On September 16th, the European Parliament approved the report of Lithuanian MP Andrius Kubilius with an appeal to the EU authorities to revise its relations with Russia. The document stated that Brussels should counteract threats to EU’s security, fight against “interference” of Russia in the Union’s affairs, conduct a selective dialogue with Kremlin and “support a democratic society.

Commenting on this, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the EP’s approval of the report calling for a review of relations with Russia was regrettable. According to Peskov, the only thing that can be discounted is the fact that the document is only of recommendatory nature.
