A video depicting German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s reaction to the mask she left behind at the Bundestag podium had over 3 million hits on the Web by Thursday, February 18. A fragment of a recording of a German government meeting was posted on Twitter on February 15 by user @GotfrydKarol.
In the video, the politician, who had finished speaking during a recent meeting, sits down in her seat and suddenly realizes that she forgot to put on the protective mask she had removed to give her speech. Merkel jumped up abruptly from her chair, rushed to the already occupied podium and retrieved her personal protective equipment.
The mask was almost taken away by the girl who had been wiping the rostrum after the chancellor’s speech.
On February, 10 German authorities prolonged until March 7 the quarantine measures that were introduced in the country amid the pandemic of coronavirus. At the same time, the government allowed a number of indulgences – for example, from March 1, subject to compliance with all sanitary and hygienic rules, hairdressing saloons will start working.
