Mike Tyson announces fight with Lennox Lewis

Former world boxing champion Mike Tyson of the United States announced the fight with his compatriot Lennox Lewis. TMZ quoted him as saying.

“I intend to fight Lennox Lewis. In September,” the 54-year-old Tyson said.

Previously, another American heavyweight, Evander Holyfield, was called Tyson’s potential opponent. At the end of March, it was reported that the fight, which was supposed to take place on May 29, would not take place, because the parties could not agree on the fees. It was reported that Tyson turned down a $25 million offer.

Tyson has met Lewis in the ring before. In June 2002, Lennox won by knockout in the eighth round.

On November 29, 2020, Tyson returned to boxing after 15 years. The former champion had an exhibition bout with compatriot Roy Jones Jr. The fight ended in a draw. Both athletes expressed their willingness to have a rematch.
