In an interview with Der Spiegel weekly, a Russian opposition activist stated that he had no other explanation for what happened. Alexey Navalny stressed that he was not afraid and intended to return to Russia.

Famous Russian opposition activist Alexey Navalny blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for his poisoning with the battle poisoning substance “Novichok”. “I claim that Putin is behind this crime and I have no other versions of what happened,” he said in an interview with Der Spiegel magazine published on Thursday, October 1.

Navalny emphasized that he is not afraid and intends to return to Russia. “My task now is to remain fearless. And I have no fear!” – he said. Remembering the moment of poisoning, Navalny told: “You don’t feel any pain, but you know you’re dying.

The head of the Cinema for Peace Foundation, Jaka Bisil, who organized Navalny’s transfer to Germany for treatment, expressed the view that the opposition would need at least another month to recover from the poisoning. According to Bisil, it is absolutely clear that Navalny intends to return to Russia and resume political activity.

EU summit and assassination attempt on Navalny
Attempt on life of Alexey Navalny will be one of the topics of EU summit that will open on October 1 in Brussels. It is expected that participants of this summit will adopt a special statement condemning attempt on life of Alexey Navalny with use of military chemical and will demand from Russian authorities to thoroughly investigate this crime.

Earlier, German Chancellor Angela Merkel demanded that Moscow “transparently and fully” investigate the poisoning of the opposition activist. “This is not a bilateral case,” said Merkel. – This is a crime that was committed on the territory of Russia, this is a violation of the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and therefore is an international issue”.
