Nebenzia announced the plans of the U.S. and its allies to deploy weapons in space

The United States and its allies may try to place weapon components in space in the nearest future, said on October 1 the Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Vasily Nebenzha.

He noted that recently the situation with the issue of agreement on space security has been aggravated by Washington actions.

“It is possible that in the nearest future we may witness the appearance of weapon components of the American potential and, maybe, of other states – allies of the USA on NATO”, – told Nebenzha in the interview to TASS.

Russia, he said, will do its best to prevent this “very dangerous scenario.

On September 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin during his speech at the UN General Assembly called on all leading space powers to prohibit the deployment of weapons in space. He pointed to the necessity to reach comprehensive agreements in the sphere of international security.
