New York broke the daily coronavirus victim record

799 people died in New York in the last 24 hours as a result of coronavirus infection. That’s a new state record for the number of victims of infection per day. This was reported by ABC News on Thursday, April 9, citing New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The day before, 779 people died in the state from the disease caused by coronavirus, the highest number in 24 hours at that time. According to the channel, the total number of victims of coronavirus in the state to date has exceeded 6 thousand people.

Governor Cuomo compared state losses from the coronavirus to the number of victims of the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center, which killed 2,753 people. The state authorities, according to the New York governor, are going to involve additional funeral agencies to deal with the burial of the victims.

The total number of people infected with the new coronavirus in the U.S., according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University, reached 432,596, died 14,831 and recovered 24,245. The U.S. ranks second in the world in the number of deaths due to infection.

Italy still has the highest number of deaths due to coronavirus infection. There are 17,699 deaths, 139,422 cases and 26,491 recoveries.
