Nine people killed in flood in northern Turkey

Nine people were killed as a result of the flooding caused by heavy rains in Kastamonu province on the Black Sea coast of Turkey. This was reported on Thursday, August 12, by the country’s Emergency Situations and Disaster Management Authority (AFAD).

The report specifies that another person is missing in Bartın. A search for him is currently underway.

Residents in the disaster area have been evacuated. About 300 settlements were left without electricity, in some areas there are marked disruptions in mobile communications.

Weather forecasters expect the downpours to stop by Thursday evening.
