The vessel for the completion of the Nord Stream-2 construction went to Germany. Already on Friday ” Akademik Chersky ” will arrive at a large logistics terminal for the supply of pipes.

The Russian pipe-laying vessel Akademik Chersky, which is capable of completing the US-imposed Nord Stream-2 pipeline, set sail for the port of Mukran in northern Germany. The arrival of the ship is expected on Friday, May 8.

It is worth mentioning that the German port has a large logistics terminal for pipe deliveries. It is very likely that Mukran is the last stop of Akademik Chersky before laying the last section of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.

We would like to remind you that most of the route has already been laid by Swiss Pioneering Spirit and Solitaire vessels. However, after the imposition of American sanctions against Nord Stream – 2, the Swiss shipowner refused to complete the work.

As a result, ” Akademik Chersky” was nominated to the site of the gas pipeline construction. In order not to fall under the sanctions, the ship chose a rather winding route, which until the last one did not allow talking about the final destination with 100% certainty. Thus, the ship was able to bypass the restrictive measures.
