“Nord Stream” is exempt from the gas directive

German Federal Network Agency (BNA) has exempted Nord Stream from the provisions of the EU Gas Directive in Germany for 20 years, the pipeline operator Nord Stream AG said.

“On May 20, 2020, the Federal Network Agency granted Nord Stream an exemption from the main provisions of the EU Gas Directive,” the release says.

The exception applies to the pipeline section located in Germany (including the territorial waters of the country) and is valid for 20 years from the entry into force of the amended German Energy Law, i.e. from December 12, 2019, as specified in the same document.
