Nutritionists list 10 foods that prolong youth

A list of 10 foods that help slow down aging was drawn up by nutritionists for the Turkish edition of Milliyet.

One of the main products is walnuts, which are rich in omega-3 acids that regulate cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. Consumption of these nuts helps reduce inflammation in the brain, which supports and stimulates cognitive activity.

High levels of omega-3 are also found in salmon, so eating this fish prevents the accumulation of cholesterol in the arteries, protects against heart rhythm disorders and helps maintain mental clarity as we age.

Olive oil is also extremely beneficial for skin health, the publication notes, and the content of monounsaturated fatty acids will have a positive effect on heart health and help control blood sugar levels.

The article notes that blueberries have powerful antioxidant activity because of their highest levels of proanthocyanins and anthocyanins. Antioxidants fight free radicals and help repair age-related oxidative damage.

Spinach is also high in antioxidants, and the high levels of vitamins A, C and E and beta-carotene help protect skin from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays.

Dietitians also suggest adding green tea, which promotes healthy skin, tomatoes, which have anti-aging properties, red bell peppers, which contain vitamin C that is good for collagen production, broccoli, which contains folic acid, and bitter chocolate, which supports the elasticity of blood vessels, to your diet to fight aging.
