Oil pipeline rupture off the U.S. coast caused a massive fuel spill

In the USA an oil pipeline was ruptured and a large-scale fuel spill occurred. More than 3,000 barrels of oil flowed into the Pacific Ocean. The California authorities called the emergency situation an ecological catastrophe. The area of the spill is still not localized.

The oil slick stretched over 12 km, its area is 34 km2. The coast of Huntington Beach was the first to be affected. The area was the most popular place for surfing and beach recreation.
