Pirates of the Caribbean screenwriterJay Wolpert has died

American screenwriter and producer Jay Wolpert died in Los Angeles at the age of 79. This writes January 4 edition of Deadline.

It is noted that Wolpert died a day earlier, on Monday, of Alzheimer’s disease. The screenwriter didn’t live to see his 80th birthday for three weeks.

Jay Walpert was born in New York City in 1942. He began producing films in the 1970s, later concentrating on writing screenplays.

Jay Wolpert’s most famous work was the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. In particular, he wrote the characters of the story and came up with the plot of the first film of the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

He wrote the screenplay for the film The Count of Monte Cristo, directed by Kevin Reynolds and starring James Caviezel and Guy Pearce.
