Powerful fire breaks out on the campus of the University of Cape Town – Video

A massive fire broke out on the campus of the University of Cape Town in the Republic of South Africa and destroyed an ancient library. Video from the scene was published by eyewitnesses on Twitter.

According to the BBC, in addition to the library, the historic 18th-century Mostert’s windmill burned down. Other buildings on the university campus were also damaged. All students were evacuated.

Four helicopters and 120 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the fire, one of whom was hospitalized with burns. It was initially reported that the source of the fire was a campfire started by a vagrant. Witnesses later said that three men were making a fire on the slopes of Table Mountain. One of the men was detained, and the search for the other two suspects is continuing, local TV station SABC reported.

It was previously reported that American high school girls set fire to a vacant house in the U.S. out of boredom and got caught when they posted the video on social media. The teenagers put a box on the couch and threw lit papers into it. In doing so, they used aerosol cans, including bug spray. The teenagers said they set the fire because “they were bored. It is noted that a police officer and a firefighter were slightly injured as a result of the incident.
