Prince Harry said he had psychological problems and a difficult relationship with his family

Prince Harry, grandson of British Queen Elizabeth II, gave a candid interview to British TV host Oprah Winfrey on “The Me You Can’t See.”

In the interview, the prince admitted that he now has a cold relationship with all members of the royal family. He also revealed that for a long time after the death of his mother, Princess Diana, he used drugs and alcohol to somehow numb the pain of loss.

However, the turning point in his life was the meeting with his future wife – actress Meghan Markle. The young people met on a “blind date”. This happened in 2016, at the same time Harry began to undergo psychotherapy, which helped him to cope with mental worries. Before that, however, as the prince admits, he could not get support from anyone, in particular, referring to his family members.

He compared this situation to what began to happen after marriage: then, according to Prince Harry, a lot of criticism fell on Meghan Markle and himself – the British tabloids began to harass his wife, who as a result began to think about suicide.

“I felt completely helpless and thought the family would help me, but every request, every appeal, every warning sign was met with absolute silence or neglect,” Harry said, saying that for several years he and his wife tried to play by the rules he was given at the castle.

The grandson of Elizabeth II said that he, just like his mother, goes against the system, so now he will speak the truth and talk about the problems he and his chosen one have faced.

Harry cited family pressure as one of the main reasons for abdicating the royal throne and moving to the United States.

“One of the main reasons for leaving was precisely the feeling that you are trapped and controlled by fear,” Harry admitted, referring to the reasons for the couple’s decision to dramatically change their lives. – That goes for the media and the system in general, which has never encouraged open discussion of this kind of trauma.”

On May 17, Buckingham Palace said that Prince Harry and his wife should refuse to use the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex if Prince Charles’ son is so disappointed with his royal family. The statement was made after Harry made several more criticisms of the ruling house and his father, Prince Charles. According to him, he sees the misfortunes of his upbringing in the way his father was raised.

In early March, an interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex aired. During it, Meghan Markle said that before she and her husband made the decision to refuse to perform royal duties, she had thoughts of suicide, but the palace administration refused to hospitalize her.

She also spoke of the royal family’s worries about her child’s skin color. With whom exactly was this conversation, the actress did not specify, but, according to her, it was not the Queen of Great Britain and her husband.

In January 2020, Prince Harry and Markle announced on Instagram that they wanted to give up their duties as senior members of the royal family and gain financial independence from Buckingham Palace. They announced their intentions to create their own charity and live in the United States.
