Rado presents the updated True Square collection

The watch emphasizes the temporality of everything and focuses on the importance of communicating with others. The model is the result of a collaboration with New Delhi-based design duo Thukral and Tagra.

Jiten Thukral and Sumir Tagra’s work is based on things that are inherently human, but occasionally ignored in modern society: the relationships between people and the communities in which we live. Their work is often described as social design. This design duo is always striving to understand the meaning of existence and to question accepted things. This is why their work is called Over the abyss.

The Indian duo turned to the concept of social design in order to create, together with an expert in materials, a watch with a unique time display, which would show not only the local time of the watch owner but also the time in other time zones of the world. These time zones are indicated by 37 hands, painted in colors that flow seamlessly from one to the other – from blue to pink – creating a fairy-tale firework effect in the center of the dial. Two separate but conspicuous SuperLuminova dot indicators indicate the local time.

The dial with its color accents is clothed in a 38 mm diameter square case of matte high-tech blue ceramic – the iconic design and shape of Rado born in the 1970s, updated in the spirit of the XXI century. The caseback is decorated with a pattern called Dominus Aeries, created by a duo that combines a glimpse of the future with memories from the past. Therefore, the top and back of the watch are beautiful works of art by Thukral and Tagra.

The goal of True Square Over the Abyss for Rado and Thukral and Tagra was to unite people through watches: versatile, sleek, comfortable and reliable, like all watches of the Swiss watchmaking company from Lengnau.
