American rapper and actor Earl Simmons, who performed under the pseudonym DMX, died at age 50 due to a heart attack caused by a drug overdose. It was reported Friday, April 9, by Pitchfork.
It is noted that he was hospitalized on April 2 due to a drug overdose. The rapper died at White Plains Hospital, New York.
“We are deeply saddened to announce that today our beloved man, DMX, Earl Simmons passed away at the age of 50 at White Plains Hospital. He had been placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought to the very end. He loved his family with all his heart, and we treasure the time we spent with him,” the rapper’s family said in a statement.
