Republicans call for the resignation of the head of WHO

U.S. Republican legislators call on President Donald Trump not to provide funding to the World Health Organization until its CEO resigns.

Seventeen Republicans from the House Foreign Affairs Committee wrote to Trump in support of his decision to suspend funding for WHO and recommended linking the resumption of funding to the resignation of its head, Tedros Adanom Gebrejesus.

In their letter, the congressmen stressed that they had lost confidence in Gebrejesus and attributed the blame for the scale of the international health crisis to WHO and the Communist Party of China, although they noted the “important role” of WHO in the world.
