Rock am Ring and Rock im Park summer rock festivals are cancelled in Germany

One of the biggest rock festivals Rock am Ring 2020 as well as Rock im Park was cancelled in Germany. This was announced on Thursday, April 16, the event website.

Both festivals were to be held in parallel from 5 to 7 June in Nurburgring and Nuremberg. The reason for the cancellation was the ban on public events, which was introduced in Germany until August 31 because of the coronavirus pandemic. A full house was expected at the festivals Ring and im Park – 150 thousand tickets were sold out. Rock am Ring was to be held for the 35th anniversary, im Park – for the 25th time.

“This is an alternative solution, of course, disappointing. Nevertheless, the organizers understand this inevitable measure in the interests of safety and health of all participants, however sad it is to cancel the full house festivals,” said the organizers.

The festivals were to feature System of a Down, Deftones, Heaven Shall Burn, Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Skillet, The Offspring, Korn, Motionless in White, August Burns Red, We Came As Romans and many others. According to USNewsToday on April 15, German government decided to begin the gradual removal of restrictive measures, most of which remain in effect, including a ban on major events, which was extended until August 31.
