The Russian Foreign Ministry urged the U.S. not to interfere in Cuban internal affairs and let the Cubans decide their own fate. This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on July 15.
“We call on Washington to finally stand on objective positions, get rid of hypocrisy, of the “double bottom” in politics. Let the Cubans, their government and the people themselves understand what’s going on and decide their fate,” she said.
Zakharova also stressed that if Washington is really concerned about the humanitarian situation in Cuba “it should start with itself – by lifting the embargo, initially rejected by the entire world community”.
The diplomat noted that throughout the entire period of the revolutionary Cuba, Washington has pursued a strategy of “strangulation of the country”, discrimination of the people and undermining of the economy.
Earlier, on July 14, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez called on U.S. President Joe Biden to strike at Cuba to overthrow the country’s government.
