The day before the presidential election in the USA – on November 2 – an asteroid the size of a refrigerator may fall to the Earth, said the American astrophysicist Neil Degrass Tyson.

“Asteroid 2018VP1, a space stone the size of a refrigerator, is coming to us at a speed of more than 25 thousand miles per hour (40 thousand km/h). It may touch the Earth on November 2,” the scientist wrote in Instagram.

At the same time, he assured that there would be no special harm from such an impact, as the asteroid is relatively small. According to Tyson, if “the end of the world will come in 2020, it is not the fault of the universe.

In August, scientists from NASA reported that the asteroid 2018 VP1 will be 384 thousand km from Earth on November 2. The probability that the celestial body will enter the atmosphere of our planet was estimated as 1:240, or 0.41%.
