The shooting took place in the town of Dmanisi in southern Georgia, near the office of the ruling Georgian Dream party. This was reported by Imedinews portal on Wednesday, October 21.
It is specified that armed men broke into the office of the party, then there was a shootout.
Four people were wounded as a result of the incident. One of the victims was allegedly a supporter of the ruling party. According to available information, the attackers were drunk. No other details are given.
Law enforcement officers are working at the scene and investigations are ongoing.
A new parliament will be elected in Georgia on October 31. The ruling Georgian Dream Party, which adheres to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic development path, expects to win for the third time in a row. Earlier it became a leader in the election campaigns of 2012 and 2016.
The main strength of the opposition is represented by the United National Movement of former President Mikhail Saakashvili, who announced that if successful, he would assume the post of head of government.
