Preliminary results of the forensic examination show that the American John McAfee, the McAfee antivirus software company founder, committed suicide. The newspaper El País reported about it on Monday, June 28.

June 23, it became known that John McAfee was found dead in a Catalan prison in Spain. According to the preliminary version, he committed suicide.
The programmer was found dead a day after the Spanish court had approved his extradition to the US authorities. The U.S. demanded the extradition of the businessman to face $4 million in tax fraud charges. McAfee faced a total of 10 years in prison.
The developer’s widow said she blamed the U.S. authorities who demanded his extradition on his death. She stressed that she did not believe that her husband could have dared to commit suicide.
So, on October 15, 2020, the programmer wrote in his Twitter that he was satisfied with the conditions in prison and did not intend to commit suicide.
On June 25, 2021, the publication El Pais, citing sources, noted that McAfee left a suicide note. The content of the message is unknown.
