Surfer dies after shark attack off New Caledonia

A shark attacked a surfer near the coast of Nouméa, the capital of New Caledonia in the South Pacific. It was reported Sunday, April 25, by the AFP agency.

As a result of attack of the predator 53-year-old man died. His body was found on a board by a local boatman.

This is the second fatal incident after a shark attack off the coast of New Caledonia this year. Thus, in February, as a result of an attack of a predator a 57-year-old man was killed.

According to Trackingshark, a portal that tracks sharks and their attacks, from the beginning of this year until April 21 there have been 21 shark attacks on humans, including two fatal ones.

In December 2020, a 56-year-old surfer died after a shark attack in Hawaii. In October of that year, a teenager lost his arm in a shark attack on a family of Ukrainian tourists in the Red Sea.
