Swedish playwright Lars Nuren died

Swedish playwright Lars Nuren passed away after falling ill with a coronavirus infection. This was announced Tuesday, January 26, by Albert Bonnier Publishers.

“Today publisher Albert Bonnier received a sad assignment from the family to announce that Lars Nuren passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, due to COVID-19,” dagbladet.no quoted the publisher as saying.

Lars Nuren was born in 1944 in Stockholm, his poetic debut was in 1963 when he created a book of poems. Since 1993, the playwright began working in theater and television, staging plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, and Chekhov. He was head of the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm from 1999 to 2007.

In 2009 Nuren became head of the People’s Theatre in Gothenburg, worked at the Comédie Française in Paris and the National Theatre in Oslo. The playwright’s plays have been translated
