Tennessee school shooting was opened by student

A student opened fire on officers at a Knoxville, Tennessee, school, city police said Monday, April 12.

It is noted that law enforcement officers received information during the day that an armed man had locked himself in a restroom at a local high school. Officers arrived on the scene and urged him to come out, but he did not comply.

As a result, police officers decided to storm the place. In response, the young man began shooting at law enforcement officers and wounded one of them. The attacker was shot and killed.

“The suspect was killed on the spot. He has been identified as a student,” Knoxville police said in a statement.

The school shooting became known earlier Monday. One student was reported dead and another young man was detained as part of an investigation into the incident. A police officer was shot in the thigh and is hospitalized and not life-threatening.
