Tesla reported 180,338 vehicles produced and 184,800 delivered for the first quarter of 2021. For the year, production is up 76% and deliveries are up 109%. In 2020, the company produced only 102,672 cars and delivered 88,400. That’s more than analysts expected.
Analysts’ estimates varied from 145,000 to 188,000 cars sold. Figures may differ by 0.5% or more because Tesla counts a delivered car if it has been delivered to the customer and all documents have been signed.
Earnings results for the same quarter will be announced a little later. In January, Tesla sold 100,000 of its electric cars in 10 hours, after starting production of the Model Y at its Shanghai plant.
