Texas attorney general sues mayor over refusal to abolish mask regime

The prosecutor’s office in Texas filed a lawsuit against the authorities of the capital of this American state for their failure to comply with the Governor’s instruction to abolish the mandatory mask mode, imposed amid the pandemic coronavirus. It was reported by the television company CNN on Thursday, March 11.

State Attorney Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit in Travis County, in which the state capital Austin is located. The defendants are Mayor Steve Adler, City Health Department Chief Mark Escott and County Judge Andy Brown.

The attorney general expects to have them sue to repeal the mandatory mask regime, which was repealed by the state’s Republican governor, Greg Abbott, in early March. Paxton, meanwhile, said that he had previously urged Austin officials to repeal the measure, but had been rebuffed.
