Texas governor ordered bars to close due to coronavirus outbreak

Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Friday ordered the closure of all bars that receive 51% of their gross alcohol revenue, except for takeaway sales, and restricted business activity in general due to an increase in new coronavirus infections in the state.

“As I said from the start if the number of positive tests [on COVID-19] exceeds 10% [of the total number of tests], the Texas state authorities will take further action to limit the spread of COVID-19,” says Abbott in an order.

According to France Presse, restaurants may remain open, but capacity is limited to 50 percent. Open-air meetings for 100 or more people require local government approval
