A nutritionist told us how to get the most out of coffee and why you should not start your day with this drink.
Drinking coffee during or immediately after a meal can interfere with the absorption of minerals and trace elements from food, she said.
“I do not recommend coffee to my patients on an empty stomach or right after a meal. Coffee interferes with the absorption of minerals such as iron, zinc, magnesium and calcium. These minerals are fundamental to both women’s and men’s health,” the doctor explained.
She added that the ideal time for coffee would be between major meals, with an hour after or half an hour before a meal recommended.
“In this case, all the useful component of coffee will work without disturbing the mineral balance in the human body,” noted the nutritionist.
