The EU goes against Trump on the WHO issue

The European Union supports international cooperation and the international search for a solution to the coronavirus pandemic.

This was announced on Tuesday, May 19, by Virginia Battu, the official representative of the EU diplomacy head Josep Borrel.

According to her, the analysis of the World Health Organization’s actions during the Coronavirus pandemic should be temporarily postponed.

“Now it is important to focus on international cooperation in the fight against coronavirus,” said the speaker of the head of the EU diplomatic service.

She noted that the European Union was expected to adopt a resolution soon that would express support for WHO in its efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is a moment more than ever to show solidarity, not a time to undermine international cooperation, especially as we await today the approval of a WHO assembly resolution submitted by the European Union and its member states,” Battu said.

The journalists asked the Speaker of the EU Foreign Service to comment on US President Donald Trump’s pledge to stop funding the World Health Organization.

Earlier Trump published a letter to WHO Director General Tedros Adhan Gebrejesus in which he warned about measures in case the organization does not commit to significant improvements in the coronavirus situation in the next 30 days.
