The founder of McAfee antivirus company is accused of tax evasion

John Macafee, the founder of McAfee, antivirus software company, is accused of tax evasion in the United States. This is reported on the website of the American Justice Department.

John Macafee was charged on October 5. Besides tax evasion, he is also accused of deliberate failure to submit tax returns. Maqafi himself was earlier detained in Spain and he faces extradition to USA.

According to the indictment, John Macafee earned millions of income from promotion of crypt-currencies, consulting work, performances and sale of rights to his life story for the documentary film.

It is also reported that he allegedly evaded taxes by directing his income to bank and cryptovalue exchange accounts in the names of the candidates, and concealed assets registered on the front men.

If convicted, Macafi faces a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment for each count of tax evasion and a maximum penalty of one year’s imprisonment for each count of intentional failure to submit tax returns. In addition, a businessman may face financial penalties.
