The head of Ukrainian Foreign Ministry initiated an urgent conversation with Lavrov on Donbass

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba initiated an urgent conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov to discuss the latest developments in Donbass. He announced this on September 6 on his Facebook page.

According to him, earlier that day in the zone of operation of joint forces “illegal armed formations committed provocations”, as a result of which one Ukrainian serviceman was killed and another was wounded. Kuleba called the incident an attempt to disrupt the peaceful settlement of the situation in the region.

“I initiated an urgent conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to discuss the current situation and ways out of it,” the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry wrote.

At the same time, on September 6, observers of the people’s militia of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) reported about an exchange of fire between Ukrainian law enforcers.

Additional measures to ensure the truce came into force in Donbas on July 27. They implied a complete ban on fire, the deployment of weapons in and around population centres, offensive and intelligence-sabotage operations. After that, the parties to the conflict have repeatedly accused each other of violating the ceasefire.
