The King of Saudi Arabia was admitted to hospital with gallbladder inflammation

King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia undergoing a medical examination at a Riyadh hospital. This was reported on Monday, July 20, citing the Saudi News Agency.

The 84-year-old monarch was diagnosed with gallbladder inflammation. It is noted that the younger brother and Crown Prince Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah will temporarily perform “several duties” of the Emir.

Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud became King after the death of his brother Abdullah. In 2012, Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, who was undergoing medical treatment in Switzerland, passed away and then Minister of Defence, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz became one of the most likely candidates.

In past years, the media reported that the monarch suffered a stroke and a complicated spinal surgery.
