A man who threw an egg at French President Emmanuel Macron was placed in a psychiatric clinic. This was reported on September 28 by BFMTV referring to the prosecutor’s office in Lyon.
“At the request of the Lyon prosecutor’s office, the man underwent a psychiatric evaluation, which concluded <...> that he should be hospitalized under duress,” the journalists cite the agency’s message.
The day before, a student threw an object that looked like an egg at the French leader. The incident occurred during Macron’s visit to Lyon for an exhibition.
The attacker shouted: “Long live the revolution!”.
The French president, after detaining the attacker, asked to find out his motives.
On June 8, Macron was slapped by a man during a visit to the southeast of the country, in the Drome department. The incident happened as the head of state was on his way to talk to locals.
Two days later, a French court sentenced Macron’s assailant to four months in prison with immediate effect. In all, the man was sentenced to 18 months in prison, including 14 months suspended.
But on September 11, the man was released from prison, saying that he did not regret what he had done.
