Denmark is the richest country in the European Union in terms of financial assets of families – 1.88 million Danish kroner. Such data is presented in the report of the National Bank of the country.
It is noted that the welfare of citizens of the country in the first quarter of 2021 rose to 24 thousand Danish kroner per person. However, the Danes have more debts compared to the residents of neighboring countries. Much of the liabilities are related to bank and mortgage debts secured by real estate (about 86%), it follows from the bank data.
According to the study, households in the Netherlands are in second place in the European Union in terms of financial assets, followed by Luxembourg and Sweden. The poorest country in the EU is Romania, the assets of families there are 80 thousand Danish kroner.
