Anomalously warm weather caused a fire on Elbrus.
According to preliminary data, the fire broke out on the slopes of the highest mountain in Europe, near Upper Baksan village. Dry grass caught fire and the gusty wind increased the fire area. By the morning of December 24, firefighters had managed to cope with the fire, but at any moment the fire could flare up again.
As noted, the slopes of Elbrus are still free of snow because of the abnormal winter, which has already delayed the start of the ski season several times. For tourists to be able to ride from the slopes of the mountain, had to use snow guns.
