The Swede crossed the Narva River and came from Estonia to Russia

The Kingisepp City Court of the Leningrad Region arrested a Swedish citizen for illegal crossing the state border. This was reported by the press service of the Leningrad Regional Court on Sunday, July 26.

The man crossed the Narva River on July 20, thus moving from Estonia to Russia in violation of the laws of both countries. The 33-year-old suspect was arrested for 30 days. A criminal case on violation of the state border was brought under part 1 of article 322 of the Criminal Code.

“The court took into account that a citizen of the Kingdom of Sweden does not have a permanent place of residence on the territory of the Russian Federation, so, wishing to avoid the alleged punishment for the crime incriminated to him, he may hide from the inquiry and the court,” said the authorities. The court order on arrest has not come into force.

On March 1, a Russian car rammed the gates of the border post in Narva. The car was detained on Rakvere Street in Narva.
