The United Arab Emirates has sent the orbital station Al-Amal (“Hope”) to Mars. The probe was launched from the Japanese spaceport of Tanegashima.
According to calculations, the spacecraft will reach Mars in 7 months, having overcome half a million kilometers. It was developed by specialists from the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center in Dubai and three American universities.
Scientists are counting on the probe to understand how the atmosphere of Mars has changed over the millennia. In particular, it will observe daily and seasonal weather cycles on the planet, as well as dust clouds that significantly affect temperature.
